Conan Exiles
Top 4 Best FPS and First-Person Games of Q2 2018
Conan Exiles had picked up plenty of steam back during its Early Access days, but quickly lost a good portion of its fan base. Now that it’s officially released, the survival game has been picking up plenty of traction again. Here, you play as your own character who is rescued by none other than Conan the Barbarian. After he saves you from crucifixion, you must learn your way around the scorching deserts, The Exiled Lands, and find a way to survive.
As a survival game, expect to do plenty of resource collecting and item crafting to stay afloat in the game’s vast world. From weapons to armor, there is a wide list of items you can create to complete different missions and fend off dangerous enemies. While you’ll be spending plenty of time under the scorching sun, the game has two additional biomes to explore. These new areas offer more ways to play by adding new resources and elements into the mix. If you’re a big fan of first-person games like ARK or even Minecraft, Conan Exiles is definitely worth looking into.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
Top 4 Best FPS and First-Person Games of Q2 2018
Wolfenstein II originally released late last year, but the game has just made a comeback on the Nintendo Switch. Not much has changed if you’ve already played the original game, and if you’re planning on playing the game in handheld mode, you might want to think again. For all its downgrades, however, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus on the Nintendo Switch is still a solid port that offers a great console experience if you’re playing on the big screen.
Following the events of the first game, you assume the role of Captain William Blazkowicz and join his struggles against the Nazi regime. Expect an action-packed adventure filled with guns, explosions, and more guns as you infiltrate the Nazi bases and even Venus. Even if the story isn’t really your speed, you’ll still get a good kick out of blasting Nazis and their deadly mechanical creations in this first-person shooter.
Far Cry 3: Classic Edition
Top 4 Best FPS and First-Person Games of Q2 2018
The Far Cry series has been one of biggest gaming highlights in 2018, and following the release of the fifth game, fans can pick up Far Cry 3 on modern consoles. Say goodbye to Hope County and prepare to fumble your way through the wild wilderness of Rook Islands, home to Vaas and his crew. What was supposed to be a fun island vacation with your friends turns into a battle for survival, as you must find a way to escape and keep everyone safe from the growing dangers on the island.
Players will have to fight their way around Rook Island and save their friends along the way. While Far Cry 3 is a first-person shooter, there are a few role-playing elements scattered in for good measure. Players will earn experience points which, in turn, can be used to unlock new abilities in the skill tree. You can also craft different items to use in combat, and you’ll have all the firepower you need to kill any pirates that stand in your way. One important thing to note about the Classic Edition, however, is that all multiplayer and co-op features have been removed. Nevertheless, you’re still in for a wild single-player ride through Rook Island.
Tacoma
Top 4 Best FPS and First-Person Games of Q2 2018
Tacoma is another game that originally released last year, but thanks to its growing popularity, it managed to land on the PS4 a few months back. This adventure game has you exploring an abandoned ship in an effort to uncover the events that led to this strange occurrence. While it might seem impossible to learn the truth behind a deserted ship, your character, Amy, has a special AR tech that allows her to pull up recordings of the crew and passengers on the ship. Using this, you can learn the truth by “rewinding time” and searching for clues by monitoring and following the AR clones. While Tacoma is a rather short first-person adventure, it’s filled with plenty of heart that aims to connect the player with the passengers on the ship.
