Best Xbox One Games of August 2018

Dead Cells isn’t an entirely new game so to speak. It’s been on Steam via Early Access for quite a while, but is finally seeing its full release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on Aug. 7. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the title, let’s give you a brief overview. This is a roguelite with Metroidvania elements that sees you explore environments, learning new abilities, and returning back to areas you previously traversed in order to access previously unreachable areas. The official site for the game acknowledges Castlevania as an inspiration, and it’s clear to see that inspiration oozing out of every screenshot of Dead Cells.

Dead Cells has been likened to Dark Souls, thanks to its tough enemies (and even tougher boss battles), varied weapons, and how this comes together to offer a challenging but fair combat system. If you’re looking for something a little different on your Xbox One for the month of August, this is certainly a title worth checking out.
