You’ll need to think tactically about each move, looking for weaknesses in your opponent’s defense, and utilizing the different skills available to you to give yourself the upper hand. One of the classic techniques that makes a return in Madden NFL 18 is the ability to slide, but if you’re unfamiliar with how to do this, we’ll talk you through it.

To slide in Madden NFL 18, all you need to do is hold down L2 and R2 or LT and RT for you Xbox One players and then every so slightly tap the Square or X button. Note, you’re not pressing this button, but just giving it the slightest tap. This should see your player slide across the floor, avoiding incoming tackles, or giving you the chance to save fumbling the ball. If you’re struggling to nail it down, keep switching up the way you’re tapping that Square/ X button. If you don’t get it just right, it won’t work.
