How to Get the Double Jump Monarch Wings Upgrade in Hollow Knight

Hollow Knight can be a pretty tricky Metroidvania title, tasking players with battling their way through a ruined kingdom of insects and heroes. You’ll need to explore your environments, defeat tough enemies, acquire new items and abilities, and befriend NPCs on this weird and wonderful adventure. One of the abilities you’ll be able to get along the way is a double jump upgrade known as Monarch Wings, and chances are you’re wondering how to get your hands on this in Hollow Knight. After all, who doesn’t want a double jump upgrade?

To get the Monarch Wings double jump upgrade in Hollow Knight, you’ll need to make your way to the Ancient Basin and keep progressing after the Broken Vessel boss fight. The Monarch Wings double jump upgrade can be found in the chamber furthest left of the bottom level when looking at the map. You can check a handy image marked with the location here if you’re struggling to locate it yourself.

Of course, there’s a boss in this room that you’ll need to defeat first before you can get the Monarch Wings double jump upgrade in Hollow Knight. We highly recommend using Quick Focus to give you a better chance in this battle, and Spore Shroom can clear up Infected Balloons nice and quickly while healing, an also deals decent additional damage to the boss. Finally, the Desolate Dive/ Descending Dark spell will absolutely rek this boss during its Headbanger attack where the Broken Vessel boss creates a bunch of those infection blobs. It’ll also stop you from taking damage, so we definitely recommend you using this.

After you’ve beaten the boss, simply head left, jump up to the next level with a little wall jump and you’ll literally walk right into Hollow Knight’s Monarch Wings upgrade.

That’s all you need to know to get the double jump upgrade in Hollow Knight. For more on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
