Someone Has Already Beaten Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire in 27 Minutes

Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is a remarkably deep RPG that spans over a hundred hours as you journey across the seas, take on quests, and engage in combat. It’s not the kind of game you can normally beat in a few sittings. However, speedrunner Onin has already figured out some exploits to get through the game as quickly as possible, and the results are nothing short of impressive. You can check out the whole run down below.

It’s worth noting that this speedrun isn’t a fresh new game. The speedrunner was able to use Blessings obtained from previous playthroughs of the game to cut down the amount of time he’d need to spend on getting the gold required to make it through. If you choose not to use Blessings, you’d have to use a duping exploit to get the gold, and that would be a lot more tedious in and of itself. Onin also used a rogue character to get through most of the early game encounters, while also killing off Eder so that the Digsite area is easier to complete.

The entire speedrun clocks in at 26 minutes, 25 seconds, and Onin says the run could probably be even faster if he hadn’t run into some unforeseen obstacles or had a few misclicks.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is now available on PC.
