Fortnite: How to Get Jetpacks & How to Use Them

How to Get Jetpacks & How to Use Them in Fortnite Battle Royale

Recommended Videos

After almost releasing a few months back, jetpacks have finally made their way to Fortnite Battle Royale as part of the 4.2 content update. Jetpacks are sure to change up the meta of the game, and so players are likely wanting to know exactly how to get jetpacks, and how to use them once you’ve actually got one in your inventory.

To get a jetpack in Fortnite Battle Royale, you’re going to want to continue opening chests as you normally would. It’s worth noting that jetpacks are a limited-time item, though exactly when they’ll leave Battle Royale remains to be seen. Jetpacks have a legendary rarity, though, so don’t expect to just stumble upon one in your first game.

In order to use a jetpack in Fortnite Battle Royale, you’ll simply want to jump as you normally would, before pressing the jump button again while you’re in the air. You’ll then be free to fly for a limited period of time, before the jetpack needs to be charged. While flying, you’re unable to enter targeting mode, and on consoles, trying to enter targeting mode will simply have you trigger the jetpack again.

Jetpacks are the first of the Backpack items to hit Fortnite Battle Royale, and these will take up a spot in your inventory. According to the latest patch notes, when a backpack is fully consumed, it’ll automatically be destroyed, so you won’t have to worry about manually doing this when you’re in a tight spot.

That’s all you need to know about how to get a jetpack and how to use them in Fortnite Battle Royale. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
