How to Play 2 Player in Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze on Nintendo Switch

Recommended Videos

Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze may have released a few years back on the Wii U, but it’s got a second chance to wow fans around the world thanks to a re-release on the Nintendo Switch. While the gameplay has pretty much been left the same, playing 2 player multiplayer with a friend on the go is sure to be a delight and helps pass the time. Here’s what you need to know to play 2 player in Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze on Nintendo Switch.

First off, you’ll need to load up the game and select the Multiplayer option at the Game Select screen. Once you’ve done this, a Controller Select screen will appear, and that’s where you’ll have the option to select your two Joy-Con to play through the game. Alternatively, you can use a Pro controller and the two Joy-Con attached together in the grip, should you prefer to have larger, more substantial controllers for your 2 player session on Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze.

Once your controllers are all selected, you’re all set to embark on your adventure together in 2 player. It’s worth keeping in mind that while you can play 2 player multiplayer on any save file – even one you started in single-player – your friend cannot join you mid-level. You’ll need to return to the menu, select the Multiplayer option, and load it up that way. A slight inconvenience, but nothing too difficult, at least.

That’s all you need to know to play 2 player in Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze on Nintendo Switch. For more on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
