“They’ll always need men like us — those who are willing to do what others cannot,” was a chilling line from the trailer that played to the cheering crowd during the official reveal.

The tone was all about breaking convention, if the players “have fun with it,” and it’s clear with this announcement. Black Ops 4 is a game that gives you “more ways” to have fun with friends, and the “deepest, most replayable game” in the series’ history.

Treyarch’s Dan Bunting and David Vonderhaar were on hand to discuss changes made to the game’s multiplayer universe. The world-premiere multiplayer trailer was streamed amid a background of upbeat rap, and showed off some very tight mechanics and visceral combat.

It’s the “most refined tactical team experience” the team has ever delivered, according to Treyarch. It will also be a much more “grounded” experience, while you’ll still move and interact with the world and keep your gun up while throwing grenades and using equipment — you can also use Ruin’s specialist ability to use the grapple gun to pull off some impressive moves.

There’s a lot to take in, and fans are going to be in for some pretty exciting changes for the foreseeable future when it comes to Black Ops.
