Disgaea Gets a Remake on PlayStation 4 and Switch in Japan This Summer

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, which was originally released on PlayStation 2, is getting a remake in the form of a game called Disgaea Refine. Announced back in January, there’s now a release date for when players can expect to be able to try the game out for themselves, and it’s coming out this summer on July 26 in Japan, thanks to the latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation.

The Japanese release will come as a 9,200 yen limited edition, with an original soundtrack, special edition box, and a daily desktop calendar to go with it all for the extra cash. It’s coming to both PlayStation 4 and Switch, which means you’ll be able to take it everywhere you go if you so choose. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a western release date confirmed for the title just yet. Knowing how popular the saga has been for western players, however, that probably won’t last very long.

Disgaea is a colorful, snarky take on the typical strategy RPG, with plenty of characters to recruit, hilarious dialogue, and lots to explore. If you love strategic play but can’t stand the stuffiness of some narratives, Disgaea’s wacky storylines should keep you satisfied. We’ll keep our ears to the ground about any possible Western releases as the weeks wear on.
