Designed with fast-paced 2D nostalgia in mind, the new indie adventure title Minit tasks players with making their way through a grand quest one minute at a time.
Published by Devolver Digital, the game follows a character who, after retrieving a strange sword that washes up on the shore next to their house, is cursed to have each day end after only one minute, returning them to their house or other safe areas scattered throughout the world. In that time, they must make as much progress as they can toward helping others and uncovering a way to lift the curse, delving into dungeons and exploring small portions of the world around them. The title boasts classic 2D animation and gameplay reminiscent of games from the classic Game Boy, complete with a black and white color aesthetic.
The game has been developed as a collaborative project between four developers: Jan Willem Nijman, the co founder of Nuclear Throne developer Vlambeer; Kitty Calis, who contributed to Horizon Zero Dawn; Jukio Kallio, a freelance video game music composer; and Dominik Johann, the art director of Crows Crows Crows.
A new trailer has also been released for the game, which can be viewed below.
Players can dive into the adventure of Minit when it launches Apr. 3 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. For more on inventive indie titles, check out our coverage of Stardew Valley with a feature on its darker side.
