Is A Way Out Coming to Nintendo Switch?
A Way Out is hitting PS4, Xbox One, and PC later this week, telling the tale of two newly-acquainted friends as they escape prison and embark on a dangerous adventure into the wilderness. Built from the ground up to be a co-op adventure that you play with friends, many players out there may be wondering if A Way Out could make its way to the Nintendo Switch. After all, if there’s a console out now that seems perfect for co-op play, it’s the Switch.
Unfortunately, the latest word from Hazelight Studios suggests we won’t see A Way Out on the Nintendo’s newest hardware anytime soon, but that there’s still a possibility we’ll see it at some point. “First of all, this is a third person game, which means that you need to control the camera… and on the Switch, if you want to play it on the Joy-Cons, you can’t have the camera controls, because the Switch only has one stick on each controller,” A Way Out’s director, Josef Fares told GamingBolt. “…we haven’t really explored the Switch, so I’m not saying it’s not going to happen. But it’s just that we are a small team and we’re doing everything in-house, which makes it very hard for us to have the time… but I’m not saying it will never happen.”
As such, while there are certainly some technical hitches that’ll need to be ironed out ahead of the game coming to Nintendo Switch, Fares certainly isn’t ruling out the possibility. Let’s just cross our fingers and hope for an update from the developer soon.
