The video game adaption of Sword Art Online’s action packed second season has finally launched, bringing with it a nice change from the Sword Art games of the past. Unlike previous Sword Art games, Fatal Bullet comes in the form of a third-person shooter.
Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet presents an original story set during the anime’s final season. The short launch trailer shows several familiar faces, explosive firefights, and a snippet of the game’s new competitive multiplayer. As with previous Sword Art games, character customization is present, but for the first time players will not assume the role of Kirito to drive the narrative forward. There are also a swath of different weapon types available to use, ranging from swords and handguns to mighty light machine guns.
Also new to Fatal Bullet is it’s competitive multiplayer, which pits two teams of four players against each other to fight to the death. Of course, the cooperative multiplayer elements of previous titles returns.
Though the trailer doesn’t show much concerning the narrative, it’s safe to say that players will be accompanying Kirito and his crew through the events of the anime, as we see a shot of Kirito dueling the infamous Death Gun.
