After Nintendo initially revealed Metroid Prime 4 back during its presentation in 2017, we stopped hearing about the game for a short time. We didn’t get a lot of information about it following the announcement, until a few rumors began flying about the developer behind the project. The rumors previously had Bandai Namco Singapore behind the game, but there was nothing to confirm them at that time.
Now, Eurogamer is reporting, based on “multiple sources” that Bandai Namco is, indeed, the company taking on the responsibility of the game’s development. Take this information with a grain of salt, of course, as nothing has been confirmed officially via Nintendo, but Eurogamer’s report suggests that the hearsay is correct. In fact, a spokesperson for Nintendo stated that the company does not comment on rumors and speculation, so it’s highly possible this may not come to pass.
But the signs are there, especially given Namco’s involvement with Nintendo in the past, and the fact that the very same studio that assisted with Metroid Prime Trilogy isn’t involved speaks volumes. We’ll have to wait a while longer, most likely, before anything official is confirmed, but with the reports floating around online now, it’s likely we’ll learn more about the game earlier than originally planned — at least, we can hope so.
For instance, it’s a little early to say “yes,” that Bandai Namco is 100% the studio behind the upcoming title, but we can certainly start speculating.
