If you’re looking to enjoy The Escapists 2 as a fun couch co-op game with friends or family at home, you can do so in any version of the game. The first thing you need to do is load up any prison stage (it can’t be the tutorial prison) in the main menu and set your game to Offline in the settings. After that, be sure to connect another controller to your system and power it on.

After that, all you have to do is press any button on the second controller, and your second player will be able to jump straight into the game after choosing a character to play as. However, similar to the online multiplayer functionality, do note that the second player will not be able to retain any money or stats as the host player does. Once the host ends the game, the second player will be disconnected as well. When you start up the game again, the second player will not retain any progress from the previous session and they’ll have to start from scratch.

That’s all you need to know about splitscreen co-op in The Escapists 2 for now. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more information about the game.
