How to Open NAT Type on PS4
As with most players, you’re probably going to use your PS4 to partake in a bit of online gaming or use it to stream apps like Netflix. With this, you’ll want your online performance to be as smooth as possible, and there’s a few ways to fine tune that experience. One way is by changing your NAT type to open, which in other words means that your console is uninhibited by connecting straight to the internet. Luckily this is something you can easily do by using a PC.
Use your PC to access your router settings. If you don’t know how to do that, enter your ISP into a browser URL. You might be asked for a username and password which in most cases amounts to administrator name and password, or can be the default settings of your router.
After you’re done completing that information, check for the DMZ setting which can be found under Security Settings. Enable it for your PS4’s IP address. If you don’t know how to do that offhand you can find it under the connected devices in your router settings or through the PS4 itself in your Internet Settings.
If you’ve done this correctly, NAT type will be listed as Type 1, 2, or 3 when you run a connection test for your PS4. What you want here is Type 1, as that means your console now has an open NAT type.
With all of that out of the way, you should be able to enjoy a much smoother online experience when playing games. Make sure to search for Twinfinite for more helpful guides and walkthroughs.
