Destiny 2 Dawning: How to Throw Snowballs in Strikes & What They Do

A festive advantage against your enemies

How to Throw Snowballs in Strikes and What They Do in Destiny 2 The Dawning Event

Guardians have a powerful ally on their side this holiday season. The festivities in this year’s first Dawning event for Destiny 2 fills the game world with snow piles, enabling you to throw snowballs at fellow Guardians in the social spaces and at enemies as well during Strikes.

Floating snowballs can be spotted throughout Destiny 2 during the Dawning Event. When near this, simply hold the interact/reload button to pick up a snowball and press the shoot or melee attack button to hurl it at enemies.

Upon picking up a snowball, your Guardian will get afflicted with Frostbite. Basically, this prevents your Guardian from picking up another snowball for eight seconds. If you get hit with a snowball, or hit yourself with the snowball’s area of effect damage, you’ll get afflicted with the Chilled to the Bone status effect. Chilled to the Bone, which lasts for 14 second, not only blurs your screen but also slows down both your walking and sprint speed.

Snowballs are quite deadly against enemies during normal firefights and even Strikes. Apparently, the Cabal, Vex, Fallen, Hive, and Taken are all weak against snowballs. Snowballs deal a huge amount of damage. In my experience, I was able to down a thresher with four snowballs during a Heroic Strike.

Snowballs also stuns enemies with the Chilled to the Bone status effect, thus enabling you and your Fireteam to concentrate your fire against the defenseless foe. Simply put, you can make Strikes easier in Destiny 2 by spreading the holiday spirit.

Destiny 2’s The Dawning event will end on Jan. 9, 2018. Also included in The Dawning is multiplayer playlist Mayhem, Dawning engrams, and gift giving through The Dawning’s Gift Schematics.
