Dragon Ball FighterZ Release Date, Box Art, Season Pass, and More Revealed

It's almost time to go Super Saiyan.

Publisher Bandai Namco has announced a slew of new information for upcoming 2D fighter Dragon Ball FighterZ today, including a confirmation on the title’s release date, a look at the game’s box art, details on a season pass, single and multiplayer mode descriptions, and the announcement of an open beta.

For starters, Dragon Ball FighterZ will release on January 26 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The aforementioned beta will be available to play that same month on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, presumably before the game releases. People who pre-order digital copies of the title will be able to access it early. A look at each version of the game’s console box art can be found below:

As for gameplay, Dragon Ball FighterZ’s campaign consists of three parts that each offer varying degrees of perspective. This means that players will be able to fight according to the point of view of the Saiyans, the enemies, or the Androids, customizing maps depending on ability. As for multiplayer, up to eight players can go against each other, allowing for up to four fights to happen simultaneously. Casual and ranked play will be available too, of course, as in any good fighter these days.

Dragon Ball FighterZ’s season pass consists of eight new characters to play after the title releases in January. As for fighters in the game’s roster upon launch, Nappa and Captain Ginyu were confirmed to be playable in both modes.
