Publisher Square Enix announced today that a livestream for the arcade version of Dissidia Final Fantasy is set to run on October 3 at 8:00 PM Japan time. Among showcasing various gameplay elements, the event will debut a new playable character set to appear in the title.
Since its inception two years ago, Dissidia Final Fantasy (which isn’t to be confused with Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, a console port of the game) has garnered quite the fan base among Japanese gamers, with Square Enix continually providing support for the title throughout its time on the market. Though nothing is set in stone, Tuesday’s character reveal may impact the console version of the game, with the odds of this new personage being featured in NT’s roster being pretty high.
Speaking of the Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, the game is set to debut in North America on January 30 exclusively for PlayStation 4. Its final cast of characters included in the main game and characters included in the title’s season pass have yet to be confirmed, though recently fans found out that Final Fantasy XV’s Noctis will be joining the fray at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
In other news for the arcade version of the game, Final Fantasy VIII’s Ultimeca was announced earlier this month, retaining a lot of her moves from previous Dissidia entries, including the ability to bombard her foes with various magical daggers, axes, and lances. Her updated version adds a few new spells into her arsenal.
