Divinity Original Sin 2: How to Dismiss Companions

Time to part ways.

Dismissing Companions in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Recommended Videos

In Divinity: Original Sin 2, you’re only allowed to travel with a total of four characters at any given time, and this includes the player character. This can be a bit of a headache, as you might come across other characters in the world that you might want to recruit to your party. Thankfully, there is a way you can make space in your party for potential recruits. However, you’ll need to dismiss an existing companion in order to do so.

To do this, use your player character to talk with the companion you want to dismiss. This will bring up a few dialogue options related to the story. The option at the very bottom should allow you to tell the companion that you wish to part ways with them. If you don’t plan on recruiting them back into your party anytime soon, remember to take away their items and equipment so that you can allocate those resources to someone else. Now, you’ll be able to recruit other characters.

Do note that talking to a recruitable character with a full party will just result in them telling you that you have too many friends.
