City Shrouded in Shadow got a new trailer at Tokyo Game Show. This game is a spiritual successor to Disaster Report and is being developed by the creator of that series, Kazuma Kujo and his studio, Granzella.
The tagline of City Shrouded in Shadow is: This is not the story of some hero. This is your story. This harkens back to the gameplay in Disaster Report, in which you play as a regular citizen trying to stay alive. This time around though, it’s not a natural disaster that stands in the way of your survival, it’s the supernatural that seeks to destroy you.
Monsters, mecha, and more from franchises like Godzilla, Ultraman, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Patlabor and more have invaded your city, and you’re caught in their crossfire as they battle it out. Previously it looked like all of these “shadows” would be against you, but in this trailer, we can see that some of these mighty giants are on your side.
Another aspect that was highlighted in the trailer was the use of costumes. It looks like using different costumes will either allow you to use different abilities or to access new areas. We also got a further peek at some human antagonists who seem to be following the player with firearms drawn.
Unfortunately, my Japanese isn’t that great, so I’m not 100% on what’s going on here, but it looks awesome. City Shrouded in Shadow comes out on October 19 in Japan, but unfortunately, we’ve got no news of a US release yet.
