Sonic Mania: How to Beat the Studiopolis Zone Act 1 Boss Hard-Boiled Heavies

How to Beat the Studiopolis Zone Act 1 Boss – Sonic Mania

Recommended Videos

Sonic Mania is the first true follow up and spiritual successor to the classic Sonic games from the SEGA Genesis era. The gameplay, and many of the game’s stages should feel very familiar to fans. Each Zone has its own boss, including the game’s first unique stage, Studiopolis Zone Act 1.

The boss of Studiopolis Act 1, the Hard-Boiled Heavies and their attack helicopter, can be kind of difficult if you’re not sure what you’re doing. It’s not immediately obvious how to beat this boss, but once you know what you’re doing it’s not too difficult.

As you’re running the helicopter will shoot three rockets at you, two orange and one blue. What you need to do to beat this boss is to hop over the two orange rockets and jump onto the one blue one which will careen into the helicopter, damaging it. You can speed yourself up by pushing right to get some momentum behind your jumps, or you can hang all the way back, let them come to you and try to hop over them that way.

Keep in mind, the rockets don’t always come in order. Sometimes the orange and the blue rockets will come in at the same time, and you’ll need to time your jump just right so you only hit the blue one. Making any contact at all with the orange ones will damage you, and likely cause you to lose most, if not all of your rings. In-between hits on the helicopter, you’ll have an opportunity to get more rings.

After hitting four blue rockets into the Hard-Boiled Heavies, you will have defeated this mini-boss and advance on to Studiopolis Act 2. Congratulations!
