The original Rock of Ages was a bizarre yet enjoyable tower defense game that had you working to bust through defenses with rocks. It may sound weird, but it’s actually a whole lot of fun. It debuted back in 2011 from ACE Team, and now the sequel is bringing the game back with Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder. It’s coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC at the end of this month as a bit of a surprise release, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
You’ll assist the Greek Titan Atlas as he makes his way through the ages, on a tour of periods for art like Surrealism, Impressionism, Renaissance, Late Gothic, and more. It all comes to life with the power of Unreal Engine 4, and there’s a new smattering of stages and characters as well as big, powerful boulders to smash through everything with. If you want to take the show on the road with friends, there’s also a multiplayer mode where you can play with up to four friends online or locally.
You can pick up the standalone game later this month on all three platforms for 10 percent off its price during the first week, and you can even get a bundle with Rock of Ages 2, the Classic DLC Pack, and Rock of Ages for $19.99 to start out with. There will be two DLC packs at launch too, one free Binding of Isaac pack, and the aforementioned Classic Pack, which is free for Steam and PlayStation 4 players who already have Rock of Ages.
