Nintendo’s third-person multiplayer shooter Splatoon 2 receives a final demo today, about one week before the game’s official launch. The Splatfest World Premiere Demo begins at 3 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. ET for North America, and 5 p.m. BST for the UK.
The demo is available to download now, but users can only create a character and multiplayer cannot be accessed until the event kicks off at the times listed above. The demo features Splatfest, which has players pick a side and gain points by winning Turf War matches. The theme for today’s event is cake vs. ice cream.
The Splatfest demo will last for four continuous hours today, rather than the six one-hour sessions that Nintendo had for the game’s Global Testfire beta last March. Four weapons will be available for use during the event, including the new Splat Dualies, Tentatek Splattershot, and slightly different versions of the Splat Charger and Splat Roller.
Splatoon 2 launches July 21 for the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch Online mobile app also launches alongside the game, allowing players to use matchmaking and keep a history of past matches.
