Is Pyre Coming to Nintendo Switch?
Supergiant Games’ Pyre has finally arrived on PC and PlayStation 4, escorting players to a mystical land where they must help a band of exiles regain their freedom via a series of 3 vs. 3 battles. You’ll embark on an adventure across the purgatory-esque land known as Downside, meeting a cast of weird and wonderful characters along the way and getting to know your fellow exiles in the process. Of course, with the game not requiring a ton of horsepower to run, many may be wondering if there’s any chance that Pyre could come to the Nintendo Switch.
Unfortunately, at the time of writing, the only word we have from either Supergiant Games or Nintendo on a Switch version is that the studio apparently has “no plans” to bring the game to the platform. According to a post over on GoNintendo, Supergiant issued the following statement:
“Thanks very much for your interest in seeing Pyre on Switch! While we’d love to bring Pyre to as many platforms as possible, we’re a small team keeping our focus tightly on PS4 and PC for the time being. If we have any updates to share on that front, we’ll likely announce those via our official site or our @SupergiantGames Twitter feed, so be sure to keep an eye out. Thanks for your support.”
It’s disappointing news for sure, but it doesn’t mean there’s not the slightest chance that the game could release on the Nintendo Switch in the future. Depending on the success of the game, there’s always potential that the developer will choose to bring Pyre to other platforms at a later date. For now, though, we’ll just have to wait and see. We’ll be sure to update this post as and when there’s more information to share on a Switch version of Pyre.
