CD Projekt RED shot to fame in 2015 following the release of the hugely popular RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game features beautiful graphics, memorable quests and characters, a vast open world, and was supported with lots of free DLC and two fantastic expansions in the form of Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. The game was met with critical acclaim and set the bar for future role playing games.
The Witcher 3 also included a very fun mini-game called GWENT which was a card game not dissimilar to games such as Hearthstone. CD Projekt RED is currently working on a full GWENT game (which is currently open to gamers in an ongoing beta) and the studio is now inviting any and all GWENT aficionados to sign up for a GWENT tournament which will be held at this year’s Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.
The tournament has a prize pool of $25,000 and will see some of the greatest GWENT players from across the land go head to head. The tournament will be held over two days from August 25 to the 26 and will be hosted at CD Projekt RED’s GWENT booth in the Entertainment Area (hall 8, stand B021).
A total of eight players will be selected from those who sign up and those players will be picked based on their GWENT rank on August 1. You can sign up for a chance to participate in the tournament right HERE. Gamescom is set to begin on August 23 and will close its doors on the 26.
