Ni No Kuni II: Kingdom Building and More
Twinfinite: During the latest trailer there’s a shot (which you can see here) where you’re on the world map, and there’s a bunch of little troop mechanics. If you can say so, is that a part of the Kingdom Building mechanics that have been talked about?
Lee: That’s a good eye, catching that. So that’s a little bit of a tease Level-5 wanted to throw in there. It is one of the systems that we will be unveiling more about later, so it was just a really quick tease. It is partially related to the Kingdom Building, but it actually isn’t the main Kingdom Building mode. But it is something that is implemented in the game, and Hiro-san himself the head of Level 5 he’s really excited about both the Kingdom Building mode and the others things that he’s implementing
Twinfinite: Is Kingdom Building more of a side activity, or is it tied more into the main story?
Lee: So the Kingdom mode, Kingdom Building, is actually both. It’s almost a part of the game, that becomes a metagame within the game, to where you can spend a lot of time on it customizing, and it almost becomes its own game. But at the same time it is tied to the story, at one point in the story Evan is going to need to build a kingdom, and that is the kingdom that is being built by you the player as you’re going through the adventure with him. But it is more expansive than what you’re doing in just the main story.
Twinfinite: For any PC players that weren’t able to experience the first game, is there any kind of word on if the original could be coming to PC?
Lee: So right now Level-5 is working really hard to get Ni No Kuni II out. As it is a simultaneous worldwide release, and the bar of quality they’re striving for, it really is taking all of their time and attention on it. Right now we don’t have any plans for the original Ni No Kuni.
Twinfinite: Ni No Kuni II runs at 60fps right?
Lee: Yes
Twinfinite: With that, is there any chance that Level-5 will want to take advantage of PS4 Pro options?
Lee: Level-5 is looking at the PS4 Pro, and will support PS4 Pro, and they will be supporting certain things in it. We’re still working on finalizing exactly what the specs are going to be and what we’re going to support, but there definitely is going to be PS4 Pro support for Ni No Kuni II.
Ni Ni Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is scheduled to release on Nov. 10, 2017 for PS4 and PC.
