Today during the EA Play 2017 event, Electronic Arts finally showed off what Star Wars fans have been clamoring for since the sequel to Star Wars Battlefront was revealed: gameplay footage for Star Wars Battlefront 2’s coveted multiplayer mode.
This is some of the first real footage of the game EA has made available, and it’s looking quite fabulous. Characters like Chewbacca, Darth Maul, Rey, and Boba Fett were seen in the footage sweeping through gorgeous levels, making short work of opposing enemy forces. There’s also quite a bit of space combat to take in, all of it great-looking.
Right off the bat, it seems that what’s on offer here is a lot more fluid and expansive than what we saw initially when Star Wars Battlefront was initially announced. There’s a lot more room for customization and living your “own” Star Wars stories through the multiplayer mode this time around, which players will likely flock to.
Of course one of the biggest announcements from the reveal of note is, unlike the previous game, Star Wars Battlefront 2 will offer free DLC for anyone with a copy of the game. This will be a boon when it comes to moving units and inviting new players into the fold, especially when it comes to players feeling jilted by EA’s decisions with Star Wars Battlefront as a whole.
