The Surge: How to Get Weapons

Gotta keep the DPS up.

Getting Weapons in The Surge

Recommended Videos

The Surge offers you a basic melee weapon at the very start of the game. However, as you progress through the levels, you’ll quickly run into stronger foes with better defense, and you’ll need better weapons to start dealing proper damage to them. The easiest way to get weapons is by stealing them straight from the enemies you fight in the game.

The Surge features an interesting target lock system that allows you to target specific limbs on an enemy’s body. By pressing the R3 button and then shifting the right analog stick, you can choose the limbs you want to target. To obtain an enemy’s weapon, target their right hand and start hacking away at it. Once you get a prompt to perform a finisher move, do it. Focusing your attacks on the right hand will increase your chances of obtaining the weapon, but do note that it’s not a guaranteed drop.

If the enemy does drop the weapon, simply head over to their body and pick it up. After that, just equip the new weapon in your right hand, and you’re all good to go.
