After taking a break for the Spring Split, Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng will be returning to North American champions, TSM. He will be sharing the AD Carry position with Jason “Wildturtle” Tran, who returned to replace Doublelift during his break. This will be TSM’s first attempt at fielding a 6-man roster, an effort that North America as a whole hasn’t seemed too interested in, but has seen success overseas. Rivals Cloud9 is the only notable North American team to run substitutes, with Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong and Jeon “Ray” Ji-won sharing the Top Lane role.
Doublelift and Wildturtle will be working on different playstyles and will be swapped in or out depending on the situation. Wildturtle will keep his room in the TSM gaming house while Doublelift will be living in an apartment nearby.
Doublelift will not be participating in this year’s Mid-Season Invitational, which has kicked off this weekend. He will make his return debut during North America’s Summer Split.
Of his return, Doublelift had this to say on TSM’s website:
“I’m really excited to be playing again on TSM, and feel reinvigorated from this break. After last season’s Worlds, I was overwhelmed by the weight of my massive underperformance when it mattered most. Coming back into LCS, my only priority is to win worlds and nothing else. It’s a huge honor to be able to play with everyone on TSM and I will make the most of it. This is the hungriest that I’ve ever been to succeed, and soon I will prove it to my teammates, my fans, and the world.”
TSM will be playing this first match of MSI in just a few days, on May 3.
