Who would ever thought, a simple little expendable Probe would ever be considered to be a playable hero in Heroes of the Storm? StarCraft’s Protoss worker unit, the Probe, is getting turned into a full-fledged HOTS hero. Probius, as this particular Probe is known is not only going to get the chance to prove himself on the battlefield, but he also comes in hot with the most adorable backstory and trailer. Here’s a little bit about Probius:
“Since his activation, Probius has always wanted to prove himself. He may be small, but he made a big difference by warping in a critical pylon during the retaking of Aiur. As the bravest of probes, Probius is eager to fulfill his purpose in the Nexus.”
DAWWWWWW. What’s cuter than that is seeing Probius in action below. Behold and try not to squee:
He just wants to be helpful everyone, let him help! He’s going to warp in some awesome buildings that I’m sure will turn the tide of battle for you, so let him come along!
Probes, along with Drones and SCVs, are one of the most throwaway units in the StarCraft universe. Their purpose in life is to mine you more minerals and vespane gas for when you require it until a Zergling or something higher on the food chain rips them to shreds. They have very little offensive prowess and only are used in battle in desperate situations.
What Probes can do that is unique to them though is actually warp in entire structures directly onto the battlefield without breaking a sweat. Will HOTS players now have to sweat out Photon Cannon rushes like StarCraft players have for years? We’ll have to wait and see.
