How to Use amiibo – Nintendo Switch

Recommended Videos

The Nintendo Switch is out and continues to feature NFC support so you can use amiibo with it. If you use these on particular games, you’ll be able to get extra items, characters, levels, and more, depending on the character, of course. With Breath of the Wild having released alongside a new series of the figures, players may be wondering just how to use them on the Nintendo Switch.

It’s actually incredibly simple if you know where and what you’re doing with them. First, get the figure you want to use and then tap it on the right-hand Joy-Con controller when you’re prompted to do so on-screen.

Do note that not every amiibo will do something in every game. Certain amiibo are compatible with certain games, while some games may not feature amiibo compatibility at all on the Nintendo Switch.

If you’re wanting to use them in Breath of the Wild, you’ll need to clear the opening area, first. Soon after that, you’ll be notified that you can use the figures in the game on Nintendo Switch.

That’s all you need to know to use the little figures on the Switch. For more tips, tricks, and information on the system, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide.
