Is Yooka-Laylee Coming to the Nintendo Switch

Back when Yooka-Laylee was first revealed on Kickstarter in 2015, the Nintendo Switch wasn’t a thing. Sure, it may have been in development, but its specifications hadn’t yet been disclosed. As such, many players may be wondering if Playtonic Games is bringing its upcoming 3D platformer, Yooka-Laylee, to the Nintendo Switch.

Well, we’re glad to share the good news that yes, the lizard and bat duo will be making their way to the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, the Switch version hasn’t been given a release date yet, but Yooka-Laylee is set to hit the Nintendo hybrid by the end of 2017.

Unfortunately, Wii U owners aren’t so lucky. Back in December, Playtonic Games confirmed that the Wii U version of Yooka-Laylee had been canceled. The developer blamed “unforeseen technical issues” as the reasoning behind the decision, but perhaps it was due to the imminent release of the Switch.

Kickstarter backers who opted for a Wii U version of the title were given the option to switch to any other platform or receive a full refund of their initial pledge.

As soon as Playtonic Games’ title gets its release date for Nintendo Switch, we’ll be sure to share it with you here.
