Is Commander Shepard in Mass Effect Andromeda?
Mass Effect Andromeda is here, a new entry in BioWare’s space RPG. It takes players all the way to the Andromeda galaxy, far from home and in search of hope. As you’re on that search for hope, you’ll come across hundreds of faces, though you may be hoping for one in particular. You wouldn’t be the only person who wants to see Commander Shepard in Mass Effect Andromeda.
Unfortunately, though, it seems our old character won’t be hopping into this game, at least not as a person you can meet. Andromeda takes place 600 years in the future in a distant world, and unless Commander Shepard joined the Andromeda Initiative (which he or she very likely did not), he or she is probably dead as you play through this new title.
On top of that, BioWare has also stated that this game will stand apart from the original trilogy, so don’t expect to see any of the old cast wandering around this galaxy. They even released a trailer where Shepard (played by Jennifer Hale) hands off the reigns to the new protagonist.
There is one glimpse of hope for Commander fans, though. It’s very likely Shepard is referenced in Andromeda at one point or another, as the player is able to choose whether Shepard is canonically a boy or girl at the beginning of their game. We’ll keep you updated as to exactly what affect this choice has on the game should more info arise.
