Is Fire Emblem Heroes a Gacha Game?

Gacha – Fire Emblem Heroes

With Nintendo and Intelligent Systems’ Fire Emblem Heroes having finally made it to iOS and Android devices, players will be busy trying to summon their favorite heroes to help them push back the darkness. Unfortunately, getting your favorite heroes in the game is a little bit trickier than simply purchasing them. That’s because Fire Emblem Heroes is a gacha game.

For those who don’t know what a gacha game is, allow us to explain. Summoning heroes in Fire Emblem Heroes requires you to pay five Orbs (the in-game currency) in order to randomly receive a hero. What hero you get comes entirely down to luck, and that’s essentially what the gacha mechanic is. It’s like those collectible toy machines where you pay a dollar and you’ll randomly get a character.

This mechanic can, therefore, make getting your favorite characters a little tricky. After all, other than picking a Focus to narrow down the characters you could get from a Summon, there’s little else within your control that you can do. If you were hoping you’d be able to get your favorite hero fairly easily, you’ll have to think again.
