Final Fantasy XV’s notorious Chapter 13 will be receiving an update this March, the same day that the first character DLC, Episode Gladio, releases on March 28. Hajime Tabata announced the news over the game’s newest Active Time Report.
Chapter 13 was a bit divisive for fans of the game, as it switched things from the open world setting, to a much more linear path. The chapter is exceptionally long, changes up gameplay, and introduces major story moments with very little explanation in some cases. Despite this, Final Fantasy XV Director Hajime Tabata has stated that the design of the chapter was intentional, “The direction of chapter 13’s content was a deliberate decision made by the development team. That said, the amount of stress inflicted on the player while running through this chapter was greater than we had anticipated. We believe resolving this issue will naturally lead to a better gameplay experience.”
At this point it’s unclear what exact changes will be implemented for Chapter 13, and whether they’ll be story focused, gameplay, or both. Luckily, Square Enix announced an English version of the newest Active Time Report would be available soon.
Final Fantasy XV’s Episode Gladio launches on March 28, with Episdoe Prompto following later in June. The game’s next update, however, hits in February and adds new PS4 Pro options, an increased level cap of 120, extra photo inventory, and more.
