Though still in Closed Beta, new content is coming to Gwent: The Witcher Card Game in the form of a new faction: Nilfgaard.
Arriving on Feb. 6, 2017, Nilfgaardian players will be treated to new mechanics that allow manipulation of the battlefield, such as the ability to rearrange their opponent’s deck and revealing their hand. While Nilfgaard is at the core of this 60 card patch, rest assured this includes both cards to specific factions and factionless ones that everybody can enjoy.
The Nilfgaard patch arrives on Feb. 6, 2017.
Gwent is a standalone version of the Gwent collectable card game inside CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3. The core mechanics remain the same, with each side drawing ten cards and placing one per turn in melee, ranged, and siege positions. Each card contains a numbered value on it, and the player with the most points at the end of the round wins. Many cards will have a variety of effects that can change the outcome of a round drastically, from increasing your own card score to destroying an enemy’s card.
Gwent is currently in Closed Beta for Xbox One and PC. Sign ups are here. PC and Xbox One users will have access to cross-platform play while PlayStation 4 will be an available platform at a later date.
