Game guide publisher Future Press announced that it will be working with Fumito Ueda and the rest of The Last Guardian development team at GenDesign and Sony’s Japan Studio to release a companion book titled The Last Guardian: An Extraordinary Story that will be released on Feb. 28.
Priced at $39.99 and 256 pages long, it features the story on how the game was created from the origins of the idea up until its release nearly a decade later, and explores the inspiration behind its characters, world, and story with in-depth detail. It also includes visual walkthroughs for a strategy guide-like look into how the game works.
The current, unfinished cover features the young boy and Trico starring at each other from a distance on a hardcover casing that’s 12 x 9.2 inches. Sketches and new, never before seen illustrations will also be included in The Last Guardian: An Extraordinary Story, with the description for the book stating, “The art and interviews contained within promise to reveal unexpected insights and fuel further discussions amongst fans everywhere.”
Pre-orders are now available via Amazon, with orders shipping out on Feb. 28. No word yet on any physical releases in-stores.
