Yellow Toads are a form of resource that you can collect in the Toad Rally mode of Super Mario Run. However, when you first boot up the game and play the mode, you’ll only be able to collect the more common Red Toads. This is because you actually need to progress in the World Tour mode in order to unlock more Toads for collection.

For the Yellow Toads, you’ll have to beat the Bowser boss trial and complete World 3 in World Tour mode. After doing this and unlocking World 4, you can head back to the Toad Rally mode, and you’ll be able to compete against new opponents to unlock and collect the Yellow Toads. Do note that as your kingdom levels up with the Toads that you collect, the opponents you face off against in Toad Rally mode will get tougher as well.

Yellow Toads are an important type of currency as they are essential for purchasing new items and buildings for your kingdom. Toad collection will also help to level up your kingdom, expanding the number of things you can do in the game.
