Image & Form Games, developers of long-running SteamWorld series, has posted a video discussing a bit what the company will be doing in the future. Shortly after in the same video, they would announce a new SteamWorld game coming out in 2017.
An exact release date was not given beyond the 2017 window, and there was no official title given to this new game, instead it was just referenced as “SteamWorld Project 2017.” It was also mentioned that the game would appear at PAX East, which will be running from March 10 to 12, The developers did mention the possibility of showcasing the game at other shows, but made no promises. No other details was given about the project, and Image & Form said they would release more information as time goes on.
This will be the fourth game in the SteamWorld series, with the last being SteamWorld Heist, which was originally released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2015 and launched to other platforms, including PS4 and Xbox One, in 2016. It is also not known if this will be a direct sequel like Heist was to SteamWorld Dig, or if it will be a sequel in name only.
