Outlast 2 developer Red Barrel Games has just stealth released a free demo for their horror game followup. You can download the demo right now on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
A few months ago, Red Barrel Games announced that they were pushing back Outlast 2 to Q1 of 2017 (anywhere between January and March) and assured fans that the delay would in no way compromise the game’s quality. Back at PAX East this year, we got a chance to sit down with the game, and we were thoroughly terrified.
“I’ll try to break down what I remember, as most of what I played of Outlast 2 has already burrowed deep into my psyche to resurface years later in some kind of form of PTSD. You’re some dude with a camera that gets separated from your reporter fiancé/girlfriend type and is lost in some terrifying farm area filled with mutilated farm animals, creepy barns, and monster people that chase you down while chanting creepy religious stuff.”
Outlast 2 is the sequel to 2013’s Outlast, which tasked players with exploring the depths of an insane asylum with nothing more than a video camera. This time around, the player is exploring a countryside, which sounds appropriately way more stressful.
