Andy Serkis has revealed that War for the Planet of the Apes will be getting a “companion piece” video game that will release around the same time as the film itself.
According to Gamespot, Serkis is currently doing motion capture work for the game at The Imaginarium Studios, of which he is the founder. Although no official title or release platforms have been announced for the game, it has been confirmed that the game will be coming out on consoles.
Serkis also divulged that being a companion piece, the game will not be based on the characters from the movie itself. His involvement in the game however, strongly points towards Caesar making an appearance in it, considering that Serkis plays Caesar in the film. The game has been described as an “interactive movie”, and will not be a first-person shooter.
War for the Planet of the Apes, the movie, will release on July 14, 2017, and is directed by Matt Reeves. The movie’s plot continues directly after the events of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and follows the ape colony led by Caesar as he ends up in conflict with humans. A new teaser trailer for the movie was also recently released, viewable below.
