Skyrim: Special Edition – Do Mods Disable Trophies on PS4 and Xbox One?

With Skyrim: Special Edition comes not only a graphically updated version of the game, but the ability to install mods on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This awesome new power raises a big question, though: does enabling mods disable trophies?

The short answer is yes. Playing on a game file that has mods enabled will disable trophies, meaning you won’t be earning any as you go. Luckily, this doesn’t mean your Skyrim: Special Trophy days are gone forever.

When you enable mods on PS4 or Xbox One, Skyrim: Special Edition creates a duplicate game file, marked with an “M”. When you want to go back to the sweet trophy life, all you have to do is load up your original, in-tact game file (the one with no M). Playing on this file, or any game file not marked as a mod file, will mean having the same trophy access as before.

In the end, you can have your mod cake and eat your trophies too.
