Pokemon GO comes to Africa.

Pokemon GO was released in the Summer for most Western countries, but there are still plenty of places where the hugely popular Pokemon game has only just seen a release.

Niantic has announced that Pokemon GO has now been released in over 30 different countries over the past few days including South Africa, Egypt, Kenya, and Ghana. The complete list of countries that have just got the app are:

  • Kenya
  • Madagascar
  • Malawi
  • Mauritius
  • Mozambique
  • Rwanda
  • Seychelles
  • Tanzania
  • Uganda
  • Zambia
  • Chad
  • Gabon
  • Sao Tome and Principe
  • Egypt
  • Morocco
  • Botswana
  • Namibia
  • South Africa
  • Swaziland
  • Benin
  • Burkina Faso
  • Cape Verde
  • Cote d’Ivoire
  • Gambia
  • Ghana
  • Guinea-Bissau
  • Liberia
  • Mauritania
  • Niger

Pokemon GO has been hugely successful since its release and, when it was first released in North America and Europe, it saw more downloads in its first week than any other app ever. It seems like everyone has gone crazy for Pokemon and a it has not been without some controversy. Several bodies have been found by players and some criminals have used the game to rob people on the streets.

For the most part it all seems like harmless fun, just remember to stay aware of what’s going on around you whilst you hunt for Pokemon!
