Game Director Fumihiko Yasuda has revealed in an interview with WCCFTech that Nioh will take, “on average”, 70 hours to beat. He has also confirmed that there is no PC version of the game planned for now, despite petitions asking for the game to be released on PC. At present, the game is only being developed for PlayStation 4.
Yasuda also divulged more details about the game’s troubled, over-a-decade-long production. According to him, despite many scrapped prototypes of the game, Nioh’s original concept has not changed since 2004. While he does not directly confirm if the game is still based on Akira Kurosawa’s work, he does offer that Nioh is influenced by the director’s films, such as “Yojimbo” and “Seven Samurai”.
Yasuda reiterates that Nioh is a “tough game”, and that there is no Easy Mode planned for it, not unlike the Souls series of games, which it closely resembles.
Nioh is planned to release on Feb. 9, 2017 for PlayStation 4.
