Nintendo has announced that it will soon be releasing a new white and yellow 2DS that will be released in Japan on Dec. 15, and comes with a copy of New Super Mario Bros. 2. It will cost ¥11,980, which is about $113. So far there is no word as to whether it will be made available in the West.
This new 2DS announcement follows the news that sales of the handheld console went up by over 500 percent in August, which Nintendo credits to a recent price cut and the massive success of Pokemon GO.
Originally launched in 2013, the 2DS is similar to the 3DS but doesn’t feature the 3D screen or the folding mechanism. It’s aimed more at younger or casual gamers but can still play all the games released for the 3DS.
