The latest entry in the Gears of War franchise comes out in less than a week, and anyone that’s played a previous game in the series will have access to a couple small bonuses. The developer of Gears of War 4, The Coalition, announced the rewards in a new post on the game’s forums.
In order to get the rewards you’ll have to of course played at least one previous Gears of War game and have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription, or have a Silver subscription and at least have logged into Xbox Live within the last year. It should be noted that you don’t have to have completed the game, but merely have booted up a Gears of War game while connected to Xbox Live.
By meeting these requirements you’ll be granted with a Legacy Emblem called “First Wave.” The emblem, which you can see below, features a shadowed COG soldier stoically holding a flag.
Additionally, eligible Legacy players will also be given a code for one free Operations Pack. This will grant you 1 guaranteed customization item, and four cards of any type. The codes for these will be sent out over time to eligible players, and expire on December 31, 2016.
The Coalition wanted find a way to reward longtime fans of the series, stating,
“The Gears community is incredibly special. Your loyalty and passion are unmatched, so here’s a thank you from us to you for being amazing fans. “
Gears of War 4 launches on October 11, exclusively for Xbox One and PC. The lead designer of the first three Gears games, Cliff Bleszinski, seems to be enjoying his experience with the game so far. If you’re planning on buying the game physically you’d better set some time aside, as there’ll be a large day one patch.
