Accessing the New Content – Ashes of Ariandel
Before you go jumping into Ashes of Ariandel, the new DLC for Dark Souls III, you’re going to want to make sure you’re at least level 60 to 70 first. The DLC content in Souls games have been known to be notoriously challenging, even more so than the base game, so you’ll want to go in prepared. Be sure to set aside from Titanite Chunks and any Slabs you might have left unused from your playthrough, as there’s going to be new weapons that you might be interested in.
To access the DLC area, first you have to at least unlock the Cathedral of the Deep. Head to the Cleansing Chapel bonfire (it’s the one past the big doors after you defeat the crazy undead who blows himself up), and you should find a new NPC kneeling next to the altar. Talk to him, and exhaust all of his dialogue options, and he’ll hand you a special item that takes you to the new area: the Painted World of Ariandel.
And that’s it, you’ll now be able to explore Ariandel at your own pace, and find out what the new content has to offer. Good luck out there, Ashen One. You’ll most probably need it.
