iOS 10 gave the Messages app on Apple devices a spruce up with a bunch of new features. One of those was screen effects, allowing you to essentially bombard your contact’s iOS device with raining confetti, balloons, and all other kinds of things.
Currently, there are five different screen effects available in iOS 10. These are Balloons, Confetti, Lasers, Fireworks, and Shooting Star. Many of these are self-explanatory and will change the screen environment that your messages appear in.
In order to enable screen effects, simply type out your message as you normally would and then Force Touch on the blue up arrow, or press and hold on the send button if you’re not using a 3D Touch compatible device.
This will then bring up the Bubble Effects menu. Simply tap at the top of the screen for Screen and then choose the one you’d like. You can preview each one by swiping across the screen to preview all of the different effects. Once you’ve found the one you like, simply tap on the send button and that’s all there is to it.
