After HBO’s beloved Game of Thrones won big at this year’s Emmy Awards, coming out on top in the Outstanding Drama Series category among a few others, the cast and crew gathered for an interview with Deadline.
According to the news outlet, Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin claims he has “thousands of pages of fake history of everything that led up to Game of Thrones, so there’s a lot of material there” and that he plans to continue expanding on the world’s lore.
However, Martin states there are no concrete plans to create a spin-off of any kind. “At the moment we still have this show to finish and I still have two books to finish so that’s all speculation.”
Meanwhile, TVLine got to have a chat with showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, with both parties stating that in the event of any sort of spin-off or prequel series, they wouldn’t be involved. “It’s a very rich world. I’m sure there will be other series set in Westeros,” Benioff stated, “but for us, this is it.”
With the seventh season starting production come February, Game of Thrones is expected to return later on in 2017.
