That’s right, Final Fantasy is officially getting a trading card game, and it now has an official launch date in North America and Europe. The first wave, titled Opus I, will hit on October 28, 2016. So get those wallets ready, so you can grab all your favorite cards of Cloud, Lightning and a bunch of other Final Fantasy characters in weird outfits.
Opus I will include a total of 216 cards and packaging for the decks that will be available at launch have also been revealed. You’ll be able to get your hands on starter sets for Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy XIII. There’s now word on just how many waves Square Enix has planned for the card game as of yet, however it should be noted the game has been available in Japan since 2011.
Square has also begun posting official videos, walking players through the rules and format of the trading card game. The first video, which you can see below, covers things like resource acquisition and the play mat.
